B for Bone Witch

  • Bone - Witches who commonly collect, clean, and use animal bones in their magickal practice, and for things like altar decoration or magick-infused charms/jewelry. Materials used by those who identify as Bone witches are usually collected peacefully or after the being has passed on naturally!

Animal bones has a big effect on my life. I even have my own cabinet of curiosities. They are beautiful and reminds me of life and death. I think bones are art that Mother Nature makes, just like flowers and most beautiful landscapes. I want to gather museum like home to myself, be surrounded by bones and dried herbs, it just makes me happy and my home feels cozy for me. I am happy that my husband doesn´t think it´s weird or too macabre. Some visitors have been either terrified or super exited. Normally my friends think it´s just me and they don´t think about that much. I also use bones in jewelry and at my altar. I use them to connect to deities more easily.

Animal bones are great way to connect with spirit animals. You can use smoke and use your energy to have a better connection to the spirit you are trying to get trough. You can also hold the energy in bones, some say you don´t need to charge them so often. You can use them as jewelry or carry around like other talismans, in a little pouch in your purse or pocket. You can also use a bottle if you like.

Chicken bones and little bones in bottles.

Meditation altar with animal bones and crystals, to help me concentrate.

Using as wards you need to be confident that the bones are cleansed and their energy is flowing. Then you can use smoke cleansing, sigils, herbs and the elements. You can bury the bones or hang them inside or outside, like in trees etc.

First dreamcatcher I made. I used feathers and bones in it.

Other uses for bones are Osteomancy, divination (link included at the end), use bones on your wand, sigil amplifier, you can enchant them. You can include them as your craft, like in your dreamcatchers. or make a wind chimes type of craft and hang it inside or outside your house. And please remember to collect your bones in a way that does not include animal cruelty. You find plenty even remembering by honoring the nature and all it´s beings.

Rather than making wand, you can paint a vertebrae with sigils pertinent to your craft and embedded a quartz point in the bone to hold in hand and gain energy for spellwork.  Where from

Raccoon dog skull I found at my summerhouse 2 years ago.

My wolf skull tattoo.
Moose antlers

Cat skull painting I made few years back. It is still unfinished.
My deer skull tattoo, made by Chaosink. Deer represent a God to me in my witchcraft.
Bone jewelry and feathers
Home decor in kitchen
So.. as you can see, bones means a lot to me and I never stop collecting them and I use them more and more in my witchcraft. I just love the pure and calm energy they have and how beautiful they are. So I definately, I am a bone witch to the core.

And at the end, here is a viking song for you I have listened like a thousand times lately. The music video is so beautiful too. I can´t wait for their full album to come next year at January! They are just so epicly cool I can´t handle it.
